About 15 years ago, the 2-hand youngster dinghy TEENY has been developed by Günther Ahlers based on requirements, demands and specifications of the youth department of the sailing association.

Chronicle

1986

The TEENY is developed by Günther Ahlers, based on requirements and specifications of the youth department of the sailing association DSV.
Target group of the new sailing boat are kids, between 8 to 15years

1987

Two prototypes of the Teeny are manufactured by the shipyard Hein from Elmshorn. After alpha-testing is done by many associations, experiences show, that the Teeny needs to be extended by 15cm.

1988 

The Teeny is introduced to the public during the celebration of the 100years existence of the German Sailing-Association DSV in Travemünde. At the same time the German Youth and Youngster Championship competition are held.

1989

Dehler Yachtbau commites themselves to manufacture the first charge of 200 Teenys for 3500DM each. In December 1989 The German Teeny Class Club is founded.

1990

At the end of the year 280 Teeny dinghies are sold,

1992

The Teeny-dinghy is accepted by the German Sailing Association (DSV) as national class

1993

The Teeny- class becomes youngsters master class of the DSV.

1994

At the first German Teeny youngsters master class 26 teams compete. The position table specifies 43 Crews.

1995

At the second geman youngsters mastership in Teeny class at lake Alfsee near by Rieste in Niedersachsen already 43 teams participate. The position table shows  now 70 Crews.

1996

Ranking list: 79 Crews
IDJüM: 52 Crews

1997

Ranking list: 80 Crews

1998

Teeny celebrates its 10th Birthday.





1999

Dockyard Sebastian Ziegelmayer takes over the Teeny-Production.

At the IDJüM 99 in Großenheidorn at the Lake Steinhude 47 Crews participate. 

2000

At the DJüM in Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance 44 Crews competed.
More than 300 young Sailors (over all about 160 Crews) started with the JQR  and position table regatta.

2001

On March 4th 2001, the Teeny is reelected by the delegates of the German Youth Sailing Day with great majority as the youngsters dinghy of the DSV for the next 4 years.
63 teams passed Qualification for the German youngsters championship in Hamburg.
Almost  400 young sailors started fort he rank list regatta. Many regattas had a lot more than 20 dinghies started. For the first time in normal regatta competition a starter field of  more than 30 boats was reached..

2002

64 Crews participated at the international German young championship on the Alfsee - a new record!  Nearly 230 crews participated in the qualifying regatta to German Mastership.  Two rank list regatta had more than 40 starting boats.

2003

70 crews start with the international German young championship before Ribnitz Damgarten - a new record!  Over 200 crews are listed in the rank list 2003.  For the first time with position list regatta  starter fields with 50 ships were reached.

2004

67 crews announced for the IDJueM 2004 in Berlin. Aligning associations were the Yacht Club Mueggelsee (island Lindwerder) and the Club at the Rupenhorn, to the Unterhavel. 209 crews are specified in the ranking list 2004
